How it works

Simple, private, no obligation

NC Hoarding Cleanup is a referral service. We connect people who need hoarding cleanup with independent local companies that do the work.

Step by step

  1. You send a request. Use the form to tell us the city, the type of property, and the best way to reach you.
  2. We pass it to a local company. Your request goes to an independent cleanup company that serves your area.
  3. They contact you. The company calls or texts to learn more and set up a walkthrough.
  4. You get a quote. After seeing the property, the company gives you a price. You're free to say yes, say no, or get other quotes.

What it costs

Requesting an estimate is free. If you hire a company, you pay that company directly for the work. Prices depend on the size of the home, how much needs to be removed, and whether there is biohazard, pest or water damage. Many jobs fall somewhere around $2,000 to $7,500, but your quote is the only number that counts.

Questions to ask any cleanup company

  • Are you insured, and can I see proof?
  • How do you handle sorting, and what happens to items we want to keep?
  • Where do donations and recycling go?
  • Does the price include cleaning and sanitizing after removal?
  • Can the person who lives there be involved in decisions?

Our role

We don't perform cleanup work ourselves and we aren't a government agency. The companies we refer to are independent businesses. Before hiring, check their reviews and insurance the same way you would for any contractor.
